Donald Simoen (Breda, 1988) is a gifted jazz saxophone player and a very proficient soloist. In 2012 he attends classes given by Dick Oatts, Tim Warfield, John Swana, Terell Stafford and Bruce Barth as part of an exchange program between the conservatory of Amsterdam and Philadelphia’s Temple University. He graduates cum laude at the conservatory of Rotterdam in 2013, where he studied under musicians like Simon Rigter, Ben van den Dungen and Dick de Graaf. In the same year, he wins the prize for best soloist at the European Jazz Contest. Next, he obtains a master’s degree at the conservatory of Amsterdam.
Donald plays in his own Donald Simoen Trio and the infamous Party Jazz Experience. As a side man he works for Bop this!, all-star band Private Time Machine, the Dutch Concert Bigband, theater show New York Round Midnight, Brasstalavista and many others.
