Ralph Zijlemans - trombone

Ralph Zijlemans (Tilburg, 1986) takes up the cornet at age 7. After brief stints playing the trumpet and the flugelhorn, aged 16, he falls in love with the jazz trombone. Ralph studies at the conservatory of Rotterdam with Bart van Lier and Ilja Reijngoud. He graduates at the conservatory of Tilburg, where he studied under Martijn Sohier and Nico Schippers. Nowadays, he is mentored by Bert Boeren (formerly of the Dutch Swing College Band).

Ralph’s broad taste in music is reflected in the various projects he’s a part of, like the Balkan Bigband, Concrete Sneaker and the Paradise Jazzband. Furthermore, he is very successful with his own band, Dr. Brass. Ralph is a skilful musician and arranger, and a dedicated music teacher at a high school.
